“When you attain non-attainment, you attain Mahāmudrā.”
Tilopa
Tilopa
The preceding lines of the section call for letting go of attraction and aversion, for withdrawal, and for abiding in non-meditation. The short verse is not a general promise that any kind of doing nothing realizes Mahāmudrā. The paradoxical language of attainment is deliberately kept visible.
Tilopa · phyag rgya chen po’i man ngag — Mahāmudrā Upadeśaṃ / Ganges Mahāmudrā instructions · last line of section/verse 19 of the Lotsawa comparison version. Tibetan web extract, line 108; the Tibetan website itself does not number the stanzas.
